Origin

Labour Day takes place on the first Monday of September. This tradition started in 1894, which was believe to have been inspired by the first worker's rallies of the Victorian Era. One of the event that helped start the Labour Day movement was the Nine Hour movement from 1872, when workers demanded shorter working hours. They were expected to work 12 or more hours per day. Even though they were unsuccessful, this movement helped build the labour union we know today!

Toronto Busker fest

The 2023 Busker Fest is taking place in Woodbine Parks from September 1st to September 4th. During the Labour Day weekend you will have the chance to watch Circle Acts, Music performance, Magic Shows, Roaming performers. These performance will be available all weekend in Woodbine Parks. Bring yours pets to the Bark In The Park TO, where there will be amazing performance form The Ultimutts! Along with the performance, you will be able to enjoy the numerous food trucks, the beer garden, and the family zone.

CNE Air Show

Taking place at the Canadian National Exhibition, the CNE Air Show is one of the most popular attraction during Labour Day Weekend. This year, you will have the chance to see The United States Navy Blue Angel, The Canadian Snowbirds, The P-51 Mustang Heritage Flight, The united states Air Force F-16 Demo Team, and more in action!

Concerts

Throughout the weekend, many bands, singers, and performers will be performing. Such as the Artic Monkey's concert at Budweiser stage on September 1st, The Smashing Pumpkins at Budweiser stage on September 2nd, or NF Hope Tour at Scotiabank Arena on September 1st!

Dream In High Park - Shakespeare, A Midsummer's Night Dream

The performance will be takin place from Friday September 1st to the Sunday September 3rd. Watch the Shakespeare play surrounded by a beautiful scenery, in High Park Amphitheatre!
